Often, you will find yourself challenged by trend, culture, and political changes. Of course, you can’t control everything to reach success. How about we look at what we can control? There are always a few reasons why you’d want to change your target audience.
1. TOO MANY PLAYERS IN THE POND
Maybe you entered the market later than others. It is harder to start a business in a field occupied by many players.
Ex: Food trucks, life coaches, makeup artists, restaurants, barbers.
2. NOT PROFITABLE
Perhaps you’re able to attract a few people from your audience but they’re very price sensitive.
3. NOT RESPONSIVE
Your audience is interested but it doesn’t bite; they like your offer but are not buying from you — no matter what you do!
What we’ve just examined are perfectly good reasons to change your target audience. So you’ve identified that a change is needed. What’s next? Here’s the three-step plan:
1. FIND PROBLEMS
Finding problems becomes finding new business opportunities and ventures.
2. GIVE VALUE
Improve your customer’s experience. For example, make sure your customer service is a step above. Go the extra step.
Get client feedback. Ask them if they would not only be interested but PAY for such service or product. Ask them how much they would pay for it. Where they would buy it, when they would buy it, etc.…
Once you’ve carried out those 3 steps, you’re ready to COME UP WITH A NEW OFFER. Then you can refine that new offer based on the feedback you received.
